Over 600 kids in the Haldimand and Norfolk area are in need of new school supplies.

United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk is proud to be hosting their second annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive. With this drive, they are collecting new school materials to help low-income students within the community. “Stuff the Bus” will run from July 26th to August 18th, 2019.

During this time, donation bins in the Norfolk area can be found in Superstore, Staples, and all branches of Norfolk County Public Libraries. In the Haldimand area, donation bins can be found in Zehrs, Haldimand County Public Library (Caledonia, Dunnville & Jarvis), and both Giant Tiger locations.

United Way has provided a “wish list” of new school supplies in which community members are encouraged to donate from. Needed items include: back packs, lunch packs, 12” rulers, 3 ring binders, #2 pencils, highlighters, assorted pens, erasers, glue sticks, sharpeners, spiral notebooks, 3-hole paper, index dividers, pencil cases, crayons, scissors, scientific and regular calculators. The most needed and least donated item is back packs.

United Way’s goal is to provide local students with the supplies they need to succeed, regardless of family income. Last year, United Way was able to distribute supplies to over 125 children. This year, over 600 children have been identified as needing support, which is why United Way is reaching out to the community for help in collecting donated school supplies.

The donated school supplies will help students of all ages. “We are blown away by the generosity of our local communities through the United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk’s Stuff the Bus campaign!!! Your donations will help so many students through the year. Thank you.” – Alison High – Principal of Valley Heights Secondary School.
