Norfolk OPP has charged a woman with a whole raft of drug offences after police stopped a vehicle on Highway 24, heading southbound toward Simcoe.
Police were conducting patrols in the area of Highway 24 near Windham Road 10, around 10.24 pm. January 28, when the vehicle attracted the officers’ attention, and was subsequently stopped and investigated.
While officers were dealing with the female driver, she fled from the area on foot. She was subsequently taken into custody. A large quantity of suspected drugs was seized, valued at approximately $35,000.
20-year-old Shelby Brooke Hamilton of Norfolk County is charged with four separate counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine, Fentanyl, Percocet and Marijuana. She is also charged with Resist peace officer and two counts of fail to comply with recognizance.
She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Simcoe at a later date.
“We remain dedicated to Directed Traffic Patrols on Highway 24 as well as stemming illicit drug activity in our County,” Inspector Lisa Anderson, Interim Detachment Commander, Norfolk County OPP said.
“This is a great example of our officer’s commitment to both of these priorities. As a result of our proactive efforts so far this year, the street level distribution of over $75,000 worth of illicit drugs has been prevented.”
