A 20 year old Caledonia man has been charged with racing a motor vehicle after police noticed his vehicle travelling more than double the 80 kph posted speed limit near Unity Road, Caledonia, Saturday evening.

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver. Charged is Trevor Vandermeer. His driver’s licence was seized at the scene and suspended for seven days. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days.

“This reckless driving behaviour and disregard for public safety will not be tolerated on our roadways,” noted OPP constable Rod LeClair. “This could have easily ended in tragedy for the driver, his passengers or anyone else on the roadway.”
