Haldimand OPP has charged a 60-year-old individual with impaired driving causing death after investigating a two vehicle fatal collision on Haldimand Road 17 and Jarden Road in Dunnville, Wednesday evening.
OPP report two pickup trucks collided causing severe damage to both vehicles. A female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity is not being released at this time pending next of kin notification.
While speaking with the driver of the other vehicle, officers detected signs of impairment by alcohol and the driver was subsequently arrested. Police have not named or indicated gender of the accused who faces charges of impaired driving causing death and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Investigation is continuing to determine the direction of travel for each of the vehicles. OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation.
Haldimand Road 17 was closed between Burke Road and Haldimand-Dunnville Townline for approximately eight hours while emergency crews and investigators were on scene.
