Every May, Grand Erie District School Board elementary and secondary school students celebrate Education Week through a wide range of events and activities.

The goal of Education Week, which takes place May 7-11, is to highlight student excellence in learning. As it falls at the same time as Mental Health Week, the themes are aligned to focus on, and promote, mental health as well as student excellence. The theme for Education Week 2018 is: “Feeling Well… Mind, Body and Spirit”

Grand Erie’s annual Education Week Gala serves as a preview for the week-long celebration. Taking place on Thursday, May 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford, the Gala features artistic and musical performances from nearly a dozen schools across the Board.

“While we’re focused on student excellence each and every day in Grand Erie, Education Week provides an opportunity for our schools to showcase what they’re doing,” said Brenda Blancher, Director of Education.

“It also gives the community a chance to visit our schools and see all the amazing work of our students, staff and parents within the Board.”
