Haldimand OPP, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, is now treating the body found in a fire-damaged apartment in Hagersville as a homicide.
A witness reported seeing smoke coming from an apartment unit on Main Street North in Hageersville, Wednesday evening. The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification. Police can confirm there is no concern for public safety at this time and there were no other occupants in the apartment.
