Haldimand OPP has charged a 34-year-old driver with impaired driving following a single vehicle collision on Concession 12 Walpole in Hagersville, Saturday afternoon.
A vehicle had struck a tree and sustained significant damage. A witness reported a male who was near the area of the collision was picked up by a pickup truck.
Police located the pickup at a residence on Concession 12 Walpole as well as the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision.
Signs of impairment were detected and the driver was arrested. Further investigation determined the driver was more than three times above the legal limit.
Charged is 34-year-old Francis Brodie Armstrong of Dunnville with: impaired operation of a motor vehicle; driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, and drive a motor vehicle – no licence
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga, Haldimand County, at a later date to answer to the charges.
