Haldimand OPP charged two individuals over the weekend with drinking and driving offences.

Emergency services responded to a collision on Concession 2 Walpole near Sandusk Road Friday, where a passerby reported a tractor trailer was on its side and it appeared the driver needed medical assistance.

The driver was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and further investigation determined he was more than double the legal limit of alcohol.

Charged is Peter May, 47, of Simcoe, with: ● Impaired operation of a motor vehicle  and ● Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

On Saturday morning, OPP were conducting patrols on King Street East in Hagersville when a vehicle caught their attention. Signs of impairment were detected in the driver and he was arrested. Breath tests determined he was two times above the legal limit.

Charged is Ralph Jonathan, 67, of Selkirk, with: ● Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and ● Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Both accused had their drivers licences suspended for a minimum of 90 days and their vehicles impounded. Both are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
