A pickup truck driven by a 42-year-old male from Haldimand County, was north bound on Highway 6 in the early hours of Wednesday morning when it struck a pedestrian. 

Haldimand OPP, fire services and paramedics responded at 12:34 am. The driver of the pickup truck had remained at the scene and attempted life-saving efforts which were unsuccessful. 

The pedestrian, 35-year-old Dustin Chandra of Jarvis, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Highway 6 between Haldimand Road 55 and Haldimand County Road 69 was closed for approximately eight hours while emergency crews were on scene. 

OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.
