Haldimand OPP has charged a 19-year-old man following a three vehicle collision on Argyle Street North at Orkney St. East, Caledonia, Tuesday morning.

Multiple witnesses reported a man from one of the vehicles involved had fled the scene on foot.

A motor vehicle was travelling south bound on Argyle Street North when the driver lost control, swerved and struck the rear of a vehicle that was also travelling south bound. The momentum from the collision caused the first vehicle struck to collide with a third vehicle.

An 18-year-old woman in the first vehicle struck was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Several witnesses provided officers with descriptions  of the fleeing male suspect. One of the witnesses reported that when they tried to speak to the man, they were struck on the hand causing their cellular phone to be damaged when it fell.

OPP located the man matching the description and he was arrested.

Charged is 19-year-old Jassar Aljohani of Stoney Creek with: fail to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operate a motor vehicle without insurance, mischief under $5,000 and assault.

He is to appear in Provincial Court Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
