It will be another four years, but finally Caledonia Fire department will be able to move from Its present cramped quarters into a brand spanking new joint Fire and EMS building at 250 Argyle St. North.

The cost of construction in 2022 is estimated in the capital forecast at around $4.5 million plus the cost of land acquisition, pegged at $1.3 million.

The motion passed unanimously at council’s Jan. 24 meeting.

The first responders are onboard with the location, and councillor Grice noted it’s a location that will serve the community not just today but well into the future.

“We’ve located in the right spot. This is what the residents need.”
