Cannabis Act search warrants in relation to an illicit online cannabis distributor were executed at a residence in the 100 block of Thompson Road, Caledonia, Thursday, and another on a motor vehicle.
A quantity of cannabis and related cannabis products, Canadian and US currency were seized.
OPP has charged 35-year-old Tammi Sprung and 35-year-old Joshua Mitchell of Caledonia, with:
Possession of Cannabis unlawfully for the purpose of selling – under the Cannabis Act, and
Fail to Comply with an order made during a declared emergency (non-essential business) – under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act
Both accused are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date.
The warrants were served by OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), the Haldimand OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Haldimand OPP, and the OPP West Region Provincial Liaison Team.
The OPP is continuing to lead an enforcement strategy which includes other Ontario police services. This strategy will reflect actionable intelligence on illegal cannabis operations.
The focus of the strategy is to dismantle organized crime groups, eliminate the illegal cannabis supply, remove illegal cannabis enterprises such as store fronts and online, and target the proceeds of crime and assets.
