Two people are dead after a collision on McDowell Road West, in North Walsingham, Wednesday evening.

Police said a white coloured SUV was travelling eastbound on McDowell Road West and attempted to turn northbound into a driveway of a residence. A white pickup truck, also heading eastbound, attempted to overtake vehicles travelling in the same direction when the driver collided with the SUV, pushing both vehicles into the north ditch.

The 25-year-old woman driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene by the attending coroner. Her 26-year-old male passenger was air-lifted to a Hamilton hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. He has since died.

The 23 year old male driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  All were Norfolk residents.
