Haldimand OPP is investigating the theft of a utility trailer that was possibly used in an attempted second theft at addresses on Peel Street East, Jarvis.

On Thursday at 2:49 a.m., OPP responded to Peel Street East after a witness reported seeing a suspicious person on their property looking at a riding lawn mower that was parked in the driveway.

The suspicious person, described as being a tall male with a thin build, left the area for a short period of time, only to return in a pickup truck and utility trailer attempting to steal the riding mower.

The driver of the dark coloured extended cab pickup truck proceeded to load the riding mower onto the trailer but while he was fleeing the area in the vehicle, the riding mower rolled off of the trailer. The pickup truck was last seen travelling east bound on Highway 3.

OPP is asking anyone who may have any information regarding these incidents to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
