Haldimand OPP are looking for a robbery suspect who made off with Canadian currency and cigarettes from the Factory Direct Smoke Shop on Indian Line, Jan 29.

A male entered the store at around 7:45 pm, brandished an edged weapon and demanded cash from the store clerk. He then fled the store on foot with the stolen goods.

A witness reported the suspect entered a dark coloured truck that was parked down the road, east of the store.

He is described as: white male, wearing a grey zip up style jacket with the hood up, a blue peak ball cap, light coloured scarf covering lower portion of face, dark lensed glasses, dark coloured pants, dark coloured footwear.

The two occupants of a home on Edenridge Drive, Townsend escaped to safety with no injuries when a fire consumed their home Jan 29.

Haldimand County Fire Services extinguished the fire and determined it started from a vehicle that was parked in the attached garage and spread to the residence.

The blaze, which is not deemed suspicious, destroyed the residence with damage estimated at approximately $250,000 to $300,000.
