A 45-year-old man Hamilton man is facing multiple charges after police saw his vehicle travelling south bound on Hwy 6 at more than 50 km above the 80 km per hour posted speed limit, Tuesday evening
OPP followed the vehicle, observing it passing several other vehicles in an unsafe manner. They stopped the vehicle when it pulled into a gas station on First Line, Hagersville.
John Ferreira of Hamilton has been charged with: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code of Canada; racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act. His driver’s licence was seized at the scene and suspended for seven days. His vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
“This driving behaviour is a blatant disregard for public safety,” commented OPP Constable Rod LeClair. “Fortunately, there were no collisions and no injuries or fatalities as a result. There will be zero tolerance for this type of driving behaviour”
