Haldimand county has been asked to address three separate safety issues on local roads.

Councillor Dalimonte introduced a draft motion that noted a cluster of homes on Abbey Road have hidden driveways. Since the area is flanked by deep ditches that leave no room for driver error, he requested that the 60k marker should be moved 500m to slow down traffic before it reaches the danger zone.

Councillor Grice requested an all-way stop at Orkney and Nairn streets in Caledonia to protect St. Patrick’s School students. A lot of buses and cars come through the T-intersection and “it’s kind of blind until they get to the corner,” he said. “We want to make it as safe as possible for the kids.”

Councillor Bartlett’s target is the newly paved sidewalk on Craddock in Jarvis. Kids have to cross Craddock, he noted, and it’s unprotected with no crossing guard, and no signage.
