With tremendous delight and excitement, West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) would like to thank Ron’s No Frills in Hagersville for their partnership and commitment to advance quality care close to home.

On Wednesday, August 11, Ron’s No Frills presented the West Haldimand Hospital & Healthcare Foundation with a $5,617.80 cheque after completing a two-week fundraiser for WHGH. Through the support of the community and Ron’s No Frills, the donation helped successfully end the Foundation’s $25,000 fundraising goal to purchase a new infant warmer for the hospital.

“West Haldimand General plays a key part in our community, and the hospital has affected and touched everyone that lives here, including our customers and employees,” said No Frill’s Owner Ron Fairburn. “The entire community has taken notice of the great work employees and staff at the hospital have done throughout the pandemic, and it seems to have touched and impacted everybody.

“From July 15 to July 28, Ron’s No-Frills cashiers collected donations at the tills to help support their local hospital. Fairburn was quick to give the credit to his customers. “It’s the community who did this. It’s not our store, it’s not us, our cashiers definitely helped, but it was the community who accomplished this and they should be proud.

”An infant warmer is used to keep premature babies at a proper body temperature for up to four hours without electricity.More importantly, the infant warmer could help save lives, especially for those born premature or with low birth weight.West Haldimand General does not typically deliver babies; however, the hospital still delivers unexpected or precipitous labour situations.

“We are so appreciative of the campaign that Ron and his staff had so eagerly done to help us raise money for a new baby warmer for the hospital,” said Foundation Board Chair, Ray Hunsinger. “Fundraisers like these are so important. They bring financial help to the hospital and it also brings awareness to the community of the critical role the hospital plays in our community. I would like to thank Ron, his staff, and all of the customers who donated towards this cause.”After receiving the donation, Foundation Executive Director Lisa Hostein described the support from Ron’s No Frills and the community as nothing short of spectacular.

“Thanks to Ron’s No Frills and the community, we were able to meet our $25,000 fundraising goal. “We are so grateful to our community, Ron’s No Frills, and to every single person who contributed to the campaign. This was truly a community effort and we are so thankful.

”While the province provides funds for hospital operations, the community’s support is vital for the funding of hospital equipment.Anyone looking to help the hospital can donate by visiting visit www.whgh.ca or by contacting foundation@whgh.ca
