Police were contacted by a concerned parent Friday afternoon after a 9-year-old child was asked for inappropriate photographs from an unknown individual while using an app on a tablet.

Police remind parents to supervise their youth in the virtual world just as they would in the real world.

Set rules about household internet use; always keep computers in a high traffic area; know your child’s user name/passwords and contacts; realize that anything posted online is permanent; be careful with webcams – your image can be captured; don’t say anything online you wouldn’t in real life.
The Norfolk County OPP Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is being asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
