OPP have taken more than $37,000 in drugs off the streets after executing a search warrant at a Head Street North, Simcoe address, Thursday Jan. 18.
OPP, Norfolk/Haldimand Community Street Crime Unit along with the assistance of Canine Services and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested and charged four people and recovered over $30,000 dollars in Fentanyl, over $7,000 dollars in Cocaine and approximately $3,500 dollars in currency.
“Instead of talking about the “street value” and “weight” of the product seized, we need to bring the conversation to public safety and the impact on Norfolk residents”, Inspector Lisa Anderson, Interim Detachment Commander, Norfolk County OPP said.
“This single, and first illicit drug seizure of 2018, if not intercepted, could have seen Fentanyl in the hands of over 550 Norfolk residents. This is the largest Fentanyl seizure Norfolk Detachment has made to date. Our officers saved hundreds of lives as a direct result of taking this dangerous drug off our streets.
“The OPP remains strongly committed to work within all of our communities across the province to stem the tide of illicit drugs.”
